Coil Building

I used three different coil building techniques, the first one was just regular straight coil, then I used a rainbow technique to make the humps on the walls, and for the base I used a swirling technique.

For my scrffito piece I used a mold of a plate and used black glaze on top, I was attempting to make a flower but it ended up cracking when I was carving it.

Ceramics 1 Final

By Lonan Dickinson

My artwork is Martin Wong's “tell your troubles to the eight ball”. His inspiration for this piece came from blending his studies in Chinese art, Himalaan spiritual imagery (like fortune-telling balls and skulls), the urban grit of New York City, and his fascination with different forms of communication, including American Sign Language.
